Swamp Beast

Here's one of my favorite sculpts so far! I dubbed it Croquilin, as its original inspiration was the chinese creature quilin (or kirin) - but it also leans heavily towards the mythological kelpie. Simply put: crocodile horse with big ol' antlers.

The sculpt was initially the result of a zBrush elective I took around a year and a half ago, but last semester I decided to reuse it for a little animation project and turned into a proper retopologized and textured model. Definitely worth the effort, the colors really brought it to life!
And even if it's intended to use displacement maps for the animation, it works pretty well in real-time too - perhaps I'll rework the rig and use it for a game one day, heheh.
